Metropolis: Reflections from Our Time is a dance performance inspired by Thea von Harbou’s novel Metropolis, which also served as the basis for Fritz Lang’s famous 1927 film, one of the most important works of expressionist cinema. Although the novel Metropolis was written a hundred years ago, it has remained relevant in many ways.
However, our performance is not a stage adaptation of either the book or the film. For us, it is simply an inspiration, a starting point. We want to show that over the past hundred years, although it may seem that so much has changed, both positively and negatively, human nature itself has remained the same.

Description
In ‘Les femmes fatales’, the production takes four influential female figures from Swiss history as its starting point: Anna Göldi, Marie Heim-Vögtlin, Meret Oppenheim and Iris von Roten. Their life stories exemplify different forms of marginalisation, resistance and self-assertion in a society shaped by male power structures. The piece is not intended as a historical reconstruction, but rather as an artistic exploration of issues of visibility, role models and social participation – themes that extend far beyond their own era. In terms of form, ‘Les femmes fatales’ combines contemporary dance with spoken text and music, thereby creating an open space for reflection between the past and the present. The historical framework serves less as a retelling than as a point of confrontation: Which struggles have been resolved, and which continue to have an impact today?
Musical concept:
Each section was linked to a different woman and a different era. For this reason, I wanted to use as few melodic elements as possible and instead work with timbres and sounds that span the entire piece and give it a sense of unity. There are two main motifs that run through the whole work, the voice, the violin and various rhythmic elements linked to the story of the protagonists.

Description:
“Hear the Music” is a tryout performance created during Residenza No. 12, held from July 14th to 19th in Saluzzo, a town near Turin. The aim of this residency was to explore new movements and musical ideas for a larger project. The concept of the piece revolves around human loneliness, the constant stimuli of the digital world, advertisements, social media, etc. And the gradual shift from human solitude to a “false” sense of fullness created by technology.

Description:
This dance project was created for the opening of sculptor Marco Zala (“Nonu”)’s vernissage. We were asked to create a two-part performance inspired by his sculptures and their unique qualities. Our goal was to recreate the shapes of the sculptures through body movement and costume design forming sculptural poses and organic transitions. The narrative of the piece mirrors the growth of a tree: from seed to maturity. Together with the sound, we aimed to create an immersive and enveloping atmosphere.

It also represents birth, life, death; beginning, middle, end—and signifies the divine connection between the human and spiritual.

Description:
The piece is about uniqueness and diversity of people of different nationalities, religions, sex, appearance and age demostrated as fictional creatures/comical monsters. I wanted to present each character at first as individuals, as pair or as part of the same clan in conflict with the others. With a changing point in the choreography and in the music all the characters will be dancing a slightly grotesque ball/waltz together, in unison and harmony with echother. I wanted to portrait diversity with the end goal of archiving harmonious co-existence.
